FAQs

Ordering
While there is not a prescribed minimum order amount, we recommend at least a $100 per order.
When you place your order, you can allow product substitutions. If you opt for this service, the Order Picker will make the substitution and update your order, including any change in price.
We would welcome your feedback on products that you would like to purchase. We are always looking to add more products to the website. Email your suggestions to: orders@freshmarketfoods.ca.
There are two ways you could do this. Firstly, you could simply increase the quantity to 12 cans, for example, on the website. Or, depending on your needs, call the Order Desk Team and ask for their advice on the best way to proceed. Bottom line: if you want cases, we can get you cases.
For the time being, please call the Order Desk Team directly to order these items. Generally, our grocery Departments need a little extra time to prepare these orders. We are working to have a selection of these items on the website shortly.
If all the products you desire to purchase are available on the website, yes, you can place a bulk order. Simply adjust the quantity. If you have a large community order, you should call the Order Desk, as we may be able to charter an aircraft for your specific needs, and we are happy to do this for you.

We have made this easy for you to order the quantity of meats and vegetables you require to feed your family. For weighed products, you order by the kilogram (Kg).

Quick Reminder: 1 Kg = ~2.2 pounds; 1 pound = .454 Kg

The website displays meat and produce prices on a per Kg basis, except for those products pre-packed to a consistent weight. Using the ‘Add to Cart’, adjust the quantity you desire, e.g. 2 Kgs; 1.3 Kgs; 0.5 Kgs for only 500 grams, etc. To assist you with quantities, we have provided the weights of the pictures displayed on the website. Feel free to add instructions for the Order Desk Team in the comments section of the grocery cart bill.

Payment is made at the time of order. You have the option of Credit Cards, WE Financial, Stack, MasterCard Debit, or Visa Debit.

Fresh Market Foods will refund money if the order value is less than you paid; or request an additional payment amount from you if the order value increases. Orders will not be shipped until the full order amount has been paid.
Initially, Fresh Market Foods is testing this new service offering in a few selected communities. Once we are comfortable with the end-to-end process, we look forward to expanding this to most northern communities in Northern Ontario.
We recommend that you call the Fresh Market Foods Order Desk to see if there is an opportunity to make changes.

Your loyalty and business is important to us. Should you have any questions about your order, the ordering process, or you are not satisfied with your order, you can call the Fresh Market Foods Order Desk at 1-807-737-1630, Ext 1039, or email us at orders@freshmarketfoods.ca.

It’s been a pleasure serving you. We hope to see you again soon.

Each week, products that are on sale are reflected on the website. Normally our sales start Friday morning at 12:01 a.m. If you follow us on Facebook, you will be the first to see any promotions, contests, and our weekly flyer. https://www.facebook.com/FreshMarketFoods/

Pricing
The retail grocery prices shown on the website are the exact same prices customers see on the shelves in the store in Sioux Lookout. Weekly sale prices are also reflected on the website if that product is on sale in the store. Prices are then adjusted to reflect Nutrition North Canada food subsidies, where applicable, and air transportation costs are shown for each product, by community.
Yes. Fresh Market Foods is Nutrition North certified, and provides food subsidies by product/by community, to help you save money and offset the cost of air transportation. You will see subsidies at the product level on the website.
Fresh Market Foods negotiates contractual rates with Perimeter Aviation and uses the same negotiated rates to calculate the cost of shipping groceries to you. You will see the air transportation costs listed by product on the website.
Yes. Upon your first time registering for an order, your Status Card will be verified, and then remembered on all future orders. For those products that have a Provincial Sales Tax applied (currently 8%), you will not pay the tax amount at the time of purchase.
Fresh Market Foods has hired a team of Personal Shoppers dedicated to filling your grocery orders. This team: receives your order; walks the store to ‘shop’ and pick your order; packs your order into boxes to preserve frozen, refrigerated, and dry groceries; and then delivers the groceries to the airline cargo hangar. The Service Charge represents a portion of these costs to offer you the convenience of less expensive fresh groceries.
Order Delivery

Scheduled airline service occurs occur Monday through Friday to your community. There may be times where we arrange special deliveries on weekends.

The main reason we developed this website was to speed up delivery of grocery orders to you. If you order by 6:00 PM two days prior to scheduled delivery and ensure your order is fully paid for, we will work hard to have your grocery order delivered as promised.

For Example:

  • Order Sunday or Monday by 6:00 PM = Wednesday delivery
  • Order Tuesday by 6:00 PM = Thursday delivery
  • Order Wednesday by 6:00 PM = Friday delivery
  • Order Thursday or Friday by 6:00 PM = Monday delivery
  • Order Saturday by 6:00 PM = Tuesday delivery

It’s important to also understand that weather conditions and unexpected airplane maintenance can sometimes cause delays. You can follow the status of your grocery order online by clicking on the Order History page.

To save you time and effort, we have built a cargo tracking feature on the grocery order website. Here’s how you access it, and what each comment means. Click on the Order History page. All your current and previous orders will appear, with the most recent order at the top of the list. Click on the order you’re inquiring about. You’ll then see airline Waybill Number (example below) – click on the waybill number and you will see status updates.

Yes. Fresh Market Foods has contracted Perimeter Aviation to deliver groceries on your behalf. When the flight arrives in your community, the airline will contact you to let you know your groceries have arrived. It’s important that you arrive at the airport promptly to pick up your groceries. Why? Many of the airports do not have freezers or fridges to keep your groceries fresh and in the same condition they left our store. Once you receive a call that your groceries have arrived, the responsibility for the quality (e.g. frozen state; refrigerated state) transfers to you, and neither the airline or Fresh Market Foods can guarantee the condition of the groceries should it take hours to pick up your groceries. If you can’t pick them up, let the airline know who will pick up the groceries on your behalf.
Home delivery is a new service provided by Perimeter Aviation to save you time and worry. When you finish grocery shopping on the website, you will be given an option for Home Delivery if you live in Sandy Lake or Pikangikum. For a nominal fee, you can have your groceries delivered right to your front door upon arrival in your community! And we will guarantee the freshness of your order right to your front door. This would be our recommendation and encourage you to experience the service.
